Financial Analyst Duties and Responsibilities:

Excel Modeling, Reporting & Analysis (75%)

Create new Excel financial models as needed, ensuring lack of redundancy with existing models and methods. Financial models are typically related to the tracking and analysis of accounts receivable data and related servicing information for our clean energy loan portfolio. Areas of focus for this position will include:

  • Verifying borrower prepayment quotes and developing better ways to verify the accuracy of quotes.
  • Reconciling our loan balances and transaction activity such as interest expense and scheduled/unscheduled principal payments between different sources, (e.g., our third-party servicer) and our central database.
  • Managing incoming large data sets and filtering/adjusting such data as needed to be more easily incorporated into our master database of loan records (our “Blotter”, maintained in Excel).
  • Create and “publish” outgoing data sets to our third-party servicer and related entities to ensure they are utilizing the most accurate and timely information possible.
  • Create and analyze delinquency data models, enabling a more efficient capturing, digesting, and reporting of such information on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Upgrade current Excel models to be easier to update/maintain while improving accuracy and analytical insights.
  • Maintain and publish key Excel models on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis as needed.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting

Perform Reconciliations and Journal Entries (25%)

  • Reconcile billing records provided to our third-party servicer to match other sources of data (including our proprietary system, and other centralized data repositories).
  • Create and/or analyze journal entries for uploading into our NetSuite accounting system.
  • Signs of Success
  • Our ability to turnaround borrower payoffs increases noticeably.
  • Reconciliations are performed more quickly with higher levels of accuracy.
  • Workload from other members is reduced thanks to the productivity and efficiency delivered through this position.

Financial Analyst Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in Excel modeling, financial analysis, or related fields.
  • Excel modeling: strong track record in creating Excel models and analyzing data.
  • Accounting: solid grasp of key accounting concepts and ability to download and decipher accounting data in connection with financial planning and analysis.
  • MS Office: strong depth of skill across all key MS Office applications, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint (and of course, Excel).
  • Strong results-orientation and work ethic: Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet quarterly and monthly deadlines.
  • Communication: Very strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to decipher and explain succinctly complicated financial concepts.
  • Problem Solving: Strong ability to troubleshoot using various methods dependent on issue at hand

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing cabinets.
  • Work environment is indoors with majority of time spent sitting at a desk.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.

Position Type, Expected Hours of Work, and Travel:

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
  • No travel is expected for this position.
