Corporate Financial Controller/Director of Fund Accounting – San Diego, CA

We are a San Diego based cleantech energy finance company that offers an exciting, first-of its-kind solar financing solution to owners of (C&I) commercial & industrial properties. By combining our unique financing product, and our proprietary sales technology platform, we make solar financing available and extremely competitive for the 80%+ of property owners that do not currently qualify for conventional solar financing. We have an opportunity to exponentially expand an already rapidly growing market, and we’re looking to add a key senior member to our accounting and finance team.

Position Description
Manage day-to-day corporate accounting and finance functions for an owner and operator of C&I solar energy assets; oversee all fund accounting and preparation of financial reporting packages and tax filings for multiple LLC subsidiaries and operating projects.

Responsibilities
• Read and understand joint venture and LLC operating agreements
• Manage the accounting for multiple entities, funds and portfolio of projects, including financial reporting, management of cash flows during construction phase, recording related revenues and cost of goods sold, etc.
• Prepare and process capital calls and distributions, create partner capital statements, analyze financial statements, and waterfall calculations for both limited partners and general partners
• Periodic review of project and fund performance against underwriting
• Manage monthly expense accruals and payments
• Reviewing and interpreting cost segregation reports
• Accounting for fixed assets that include ITC-eligible and ineligible property, and various MACRS tax recovery periods
• Prepare quarterly financial statements (corporate and fund level)
• Quarterly investor reporting (corporate and fund level)
• Manage audits for multiple entities
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, and manage monthly journal entries and schedules for multiple entities
• Review daily cash balance report and maintain cash projections
• Manage debt facility, borrowings and pay downs
• Prepare debt service reports or deliverables for lenders
• Preparation of accounting policies, technical memos, internal controls
• Provide ad hoc support to the executive team in analyzing complex accounting issues

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA required; Big 4 experience is a plus
• Minimum 7 years professional accounting experience
• Knowledge of GAAP, with proven technical skillset
• Partnership/LLC accounting experience for multiple parent/sub entities
• Experience in solar energy / tax equity financing structures
• Self-starter willing to take a hands-on role
• Effective team member
• Ability to multi-task
• Highly organized / detail oriented
• Desire to work in dynamic, start-up environment and adapt to changing priorities
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and influence decisions with all levels of management
• Strong collaboration and relationship skills
• High standards for accuracy, precision and quality work product
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Powerpoint and Excel
